- Use the EarthChronicle Template to start your webpage. It's a good simple version and has
all the main points you will need to include anyway, like the navigation bars and probably
a main heading. Standard pages can paste into the
basic section template, though you can adjust anything you need to
- Link each page to the homepage and other key pages to make navigation as easy as possible.
The main header navbar shouldn't be changed (it's the same on every page), but the footer
should be customized for each webpage to allow visitors to get around with the fewest clicks.
(e.g. map pages should link to Map Central, their continent section, and other appropriate
categories.)
- Keep pages small so people with slow connections can download pages easily. The small
page can link to a larger, more detailed download intensive page, image, or file if
necessary, but the links should warn people what they’re in for.
- Pages should be colorful if possible, and laid out in ways to increase not decrease
navigability. If form follows function, it helps lead you to a good page design and
almost always creates the most useful pages, and sometimes very innovative ones too.
- All pages should link to the homepage, Reader's Guide to EarthChronicle.com, and have a
link to submit a question or note something that’s incorrect or out of date. The easiest and
best way to do this is to use the main header navbar. If there is a critically important
reason that you can't, you still need to incorporate these links somewhere on the page.
- Before submitting the page check everything you can against the
final checklist
